Milind graduated from the University of Illinois in 2001 with a Masters and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. His doctoral research was in the area of scalable generic machine learning for modeling concepts and context.
At the Intelligent Information Analysis Group at IBM Research, Milind is currently focused on the improvement of complex systems through intelligent use of cyberphysical information coupled with understanding of human behavior. The group’s signature research showcase is the City of Dubuque, the first American IBM Smarter City. The work the group has performed in helping cities analyze movement patterns and use them for transit planning has won the National Associations Development Organization 2012 Innovation Award.
Milind is also a senior member of the IEEE and is involved in several community-wide activities in multimedia and machine learning.
