Currently on staff at the Office for Traffic Planning and Road Construction in Leipzig, HeinemannTorben Heinemann first attended the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. As an architecture student there he completed an EU programme in Wrocław, Poland, that connected architecture with urban planning. After graduating he studied transportation engineering at Dresden University of Technology. From 1999 till 2004 he was a researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development and at TU Dresden.

In 2004 he became the head of the department General Planning in the Office for Traffic Planning and Road Construction in Leipzig, where he has remained to this day.

Since 2013 he has lectured on urban street design at the German Institute of Science and Technology at TU Munich-Asia in Singapore.
