Michal has been since 2012 an assistant professor at Faculty of Land Reclamation and Environmental Engineering of the Poznań Life Sciences University. In 2003 he graduated in spatial management studies at the Geosciences Department of the Adam Mickiewicz University. His doctoral thesis (“Modelling of the suburbanisation process in Poznań metropolitan area using artificial neural networks and cellular automata”) evaluated as first class honours in 2007. Then he had worked as an assistant professor at Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Planning of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2009-2011 he was a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Institute of Mobility and Transport of Technical University in Kaiserslautern (Germany). He is an author or o-author of more than 60 scientific papers. Since 2009 he has been an expert of the Sobieski-Institute in Warsaw (Polish think-tank). In 2014 he received a nomination to the State Commission of Urban Planning and Architecture. His research interests are in the linkage between urban planning and transport demand, the transport policy in urban areas and the regional railways development.
